Burrito Special from Moe's Southwest Grill - $6.99?

I don't exactly remember the name of the item that I ordered. It wasn't on the regular menu though. I saw a little cardboard standup with a picture of the item so I decided to get it. In the end, it's all practically the same since you can customize your burrito to your liking.

Judging from the picture, this burrito had guacamole, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, my choice of meat (I think I chose spiced pork), and some grilled peppers. I don't actually see rice or beans in there, but that doesn't sound right - I usually ask for those.

Anyway, the taste is pretty much on par with Chipotle's burritos, which to me, is a good thing. Hard to screw up Mexican food though because everything mixes with everything else and still tastes darn good.

Enchiladas con Mole from Las Palmas - $11.50

The menu lists this dish as "a rolled corn tortilla stuffed with Seasoned Ground Beef, Marinated Chicken or Cheese, topped with our special mole sauce & melted cheese, garnished with lettuce & tomato." In my case, I paid the extra $1 to substitute skirt steak (so the cost was actually $12.50).

This was my first time trying mole sauce and I was quickly able to detect a subtle chocolatey flavor and as it turns out, mole sauce is typically made with Mexican chocolate as one of its ingredients. Anyway, this blended well with the tender steak and the refried beans. The vegetables felt a little out of place, but that could be because I'm more of a carnivore. Yummy Mexican dish.

Border Scramble Burrito from Bob Evan's - $6.49

The Border Scramble burrito is essentially the same as the Border Scramble omelette except instead of being wrapped in eggs, this is wrapped in a flour tortilla and topped with sausage chili, scallions, and sour cream. I'm looking at the description online and apparently it was also supposed to have cheddar cheese on top as well. Oh well...

Anyway, this is, in my opinion, a tastier alternative to the omelette version. My friend tried both as well and he agrees. Factor in the cheaper price and you're in for a win-win meal.

Steak McSkillet Burrito from McDonald's - $2.95

Here is another bit of proof that McDonald's breakfast is top tier. You've got your steak, scrambled eggs, potato vegetable blend, American cheese, shredded cheddar & Jack cheese, onions and salsa all wrapped inside a flour tortilla.

The picture may look messy, but it's neatly wrapped when you receive it so it's nothing to worry about. What you MAY have to worry about are digestion woes. I think the salsa gave me some minor stomach pains later that day, but I have sensitive stomach, so it could just be me.

Baja Beef Chalupa from Taco Bell - $1.69

This is my favorite item off the menu at Taco Bell. The only difference between a chalupa and a regular taco is the shell. They both have beef, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese in them, but instead of a regular corn tortilla, the chalupa has a fried flour tortilla, and as all Americans should know, fried = better.

The chalupas come in two varieties - Baja or Supreme. The Baja version has a some sort of special sauce while the Supreme has sour creme. Other than that, I'm not sure there's anything else different.

Crunchwrap Supreme from Taco Bell - $2.79

This a neat little creation by Taco Bell - the crunchwrap supreme. The first picture shows how it's given to you and how it should be eaten. The second picture shows you what it's like when you open it up just to show you what's inside.

If you go by the layers, first, there's a large, soft tortilla, then the beef/chicken and cheese, then a hard taco shell with lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream on top. It looks fairly messy from the 2nd picture, but that's because it's not meant to be opened up.

It's a pretty creative dish for a large chain, and tasty too. The only downside is that if you wait too long to eat it (which might happen when you order a lot), then the hard shell taco gets flaccid and loses its crunch.

Steak Taquitos from Taco Bell - $1.99

Taquito is just a fancy name for meat and cheese tightly wrapped in a tortilla. Still, this is probably one of my favorite things to order at Taco Bell. It tastes good, it's cheap, and it reheats well. You can choose between steak or chicken (I always choose steak) and it comes with your choice of guacamole, sour cream or salsa (I always choose the guacamole).

Breakfast Burrito from McDonald's - $1.50

Figure I might as well keep the breakfast theme going. This time, we have a breakfast burrito from McDonald's which consists of sausage, scrambled eggs, green and red bell peppers, and American cheese, wrapped inside a soft tortillo shell.

I order these on occasion to break away from the from the typical toast/biscuit/bagel/English muffin choices usually offered for breakfast sandwiches. Also, these are fairly small so it takes about two of them to completely replace one of the other breakfast sandwiches.
